Who we are
Zippiefly is a UK marketplace that helps customers find local waste companies and request quotes. Zippiefly is operated by My Digital, registered office 505 Great Western Road, Glasgow, G12 8HN. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at privacy@zippiefly.com.
What we collect
- Account details – your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Job details – the service you need, postcode, waste type, approximate amount, preferred date and any description you provide.
- Company details – for waste companies: business name, contact details, company and VAT numbers, coverage areas and verification records.
- Listing claim documents – when a waste company claims its listing, the company registration certificate and a director's photo ID, plus the director's name and company number.
- Sign-in sessions – a random token that keeps you signed in on the website or app.
We do not use advertising trackers, sell your data or track you across other apps and websites.
How we use it
- To run your account and keep you signed in (contract).
- To share your job with waste companies that can quote for it (contract).
- To verify waste companies and keep the marketplace safe (legitimate interests).
- To confirm that the person claiming a company listing is authorised to act for it (legitimate interests – preventing fraud).
Who we share it with
Job details are shown to registered waste companies offering the relevant service. We use Stripe to process card payments and Resend to send account and notification emails; both act only on our instructions as processors, not as independent recipients of your data. We also use hosting and database providers to run the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your data straight away.
Claim documents (certificates and ID) are only seen by the Zippiefly team and are deleted as soon as the claim has been approved or rejected. We keep a record of the decision.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. You can delete your account at any time in the app or on the delete account page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
